Both Sporting KC representatives to be available for action against Manchester United
Sporting Kansas City’s Matt Besler and Omar Bravo have both been named to the game-day roster for the 2011 AT&T All-Star Game by Manager Hans Backe.
Both players were selected as All-Stars recently, however they are now both assured places in the game-day squad.
Besler was named as a 2011 MLS-All Star last Sunday after receiving nearly three times as many votes via AT&T Text Voting than any other MLS player. Besler, 24, has been a constant force at the back for Sporting Kansas City during the team’s current 11-game unbeaten run in league play. With Besler in central defense, Sporting Kansas City has yet to concede more than one goal in 12-straight matches in league play.
Bravo was selected to the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star Game on Saturday as one of two picks made by Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber. The 31-year-old Designated Player currently leads Sporting Kansas City in goals with four on the year, despite missing five straight games recovering from sports hernia surgery.
The 2011 MLS All-Stars will go up against English Premier League champions Manchester United at 7:30 p.m. CT on July 27th at Red Bull Arena, and will be shown live on ESPN2, Galavision and TSN2.
